Professional Development

The BCH Professional Development in Education (PDE) programs support health professions educators through interactive learning, shared resources, and active communities of practice. PDE fosters evidence-based teaching, advances education research and scholarship, and recognizes excellence in education across the institution. The ultimate goal is to ensure that the next generation of clinicians receive the highest quality education possible, enabling them to deliver exceptional care to their patients. Our core professional development activities include:

  • Boston Children’s Academy for Teaching and Educational Innovation and Scholarship
  • Teaching Certificate Program
  • Foundations of Health Professions Education Research Certificate Program
  • Educational Consultations
  • Peer Coaching and Master Teacher Observations
  • Collaborative Projects and Programs with UME, GME, Continuing Education, Safety & Quality Learning Network, Office of Equity and Inclusion, Office of Experience, and Office of Faculty Development 

Additionally, PDE provides training and support for: integrating technology into health professions education, educational grants, and resources for career advancement in healthcare professions education.
