Coaching
Each Teaching Certificate member is paired with a senior health professions educator who helps them clarify teaching goals and identify actionable steps for improvement. Coaches serve as collaborative thought partners, offering guidance, strategies, and professional insights to support members as they grow within the field of health professions education.
Teaching Observation
The CEEI arranges for senior health professions educators to conduct teaching observations of the certificate members. These are formative in nature, and allow certificate members to identify ahead of time the exact teaching skills and strategies they would like the senior educators to focus on and provide feedback about after the teaching encounter.
Master Teacher Observation
All teaching certificate members are asked to identify a “master teacher” or senior clinician educator who they feel best exemplifies the teaching skills and techniques the member would like to further develop. After observing the master teaching, the certificate member and master teacher meet to discuss effective use of the identified techniques, how to overcome obstacles in applying these skills, and ways the teaching certificate member can incorporate best teaching strategies into their own teaching practices.
