Adolescent Medicine | Inpatient Clinical Experience

On the inpatient Adolescent Medicine service, Fellows participate in daytime rounding in the hospital and overnight call from home. Fellows work closely with Adolescent Division Faculty to evaluate and manage Adolescent/Young adults (AYA) admitted to the hospital from our primary care practice in addition to patients presenting with subspecialty diagnoses such as disordered eating and abnormal uterine bleeding. Fellows directly supervise the care of all patients admitted to the BCH Adolescent Medicine service alongside the Resident team. While on service, Fellows are also responsible for triaging calls from the emergency room and outside clinics. While on the inpatient rotation, Fellows are excused from outpatient clinical sessions. First and second year Fellows take 12-13 weeks of inpatient call and third year Fellows take 2-3 weeks of inpatient call with graduated responsibility.
