Female Athlete Program Fellowship

The Wu Tsai Female Athlete Program Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital offers one year of specialty training in the treatment of female athletes.

Program information

The Female Athlete Program is made up of an interdisciplinary clinical care team of physicians, advanced practice clinicians (APCs), dietitians, and sports psychology/behavioral health providers.

The fellowship will provide training in diagnosing, treating, and comprehensively managing the health of the female athlete. Fellows will become proficient in evaluation of relative energy deficiency in sport (REDs)eating disorders, bone health, sport-related endocrine issues, and other sports medicine injuries experienced by female athletes.

Fellows will also have training in male athlete endocrine concerns, issues pertaining to transgender and gender-diverse athletes, nutrition evaluations, behavioral health evaluation and management, and general endocrine and gynecologic care of female athletes.

Research

The Female Athlete Program is part of the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance and has a large, interdisciplinary clinical research team. Clinical research opportunities are available and can be supported by the program.

Fellows will be responsible for completing at least one research project during their fellowship year and must be an active contributor to program research.

Applicant requirements

This fellowship is open to individuals who have completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine or an equivalent level of international training.

We will not be able to consider applicants who do not meet these criteria.
