Overview of the fellowship
The Division of Pediatric Neuroradiology contributes to various educational programs at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, including medical student education, residency training, and fellowship programs.
Boston Children’s Hospital offers a one-year Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship, accepting two fellows annually. To be eligible, applicants must have completed either an ACGME-accredited pediatric radiology fellowship or a one-year ACGME-accredited neuroradiology fellowship. The program provides specialized training in pediatric neuroradiology, focusing on the high standards of practice, education, and research essential to the field. Fellows will learn to apply neuroradiology techniques to assess and diagnose conditions affecting the pediatric central nervous system, spine, head, and neck.
At Boston Children’s Hospital, fellows will expand their expertise through independent research projects in collaboration with a neuroradiology attending, as well as participation in various teaching conferences and MR/CT rounds. The program offers a structured, comprehensive learning experience aimed at enhancing both research and clinical skills in neuroradiology. Additionally, fellows will dictate a wide range of diverse cases, including inpatient, outpatient, critical care, and emergency department studies, offering valuable learning opportunities. Each fellow will gain a hands-on experience using advanced imaging techniques to assess a wide variety of pediatric conditions, including congenital malformations, brain tumors, neurodegenerative diseases, and traumatic injuries.
Fellows will attend routine clinical conferences showcasing experts from Boston Children’s Hospital in:
- Child Abuse
- Emergency Medicine
- Endocrinology
- Epilepsy
- Fetal Care and Surgery Center (FCSC) (formerly Advanced Fetal Care Center)

Medical imaging equipment
Boston Children’s Hospital is committed to providing exceptional imaging services and improving patient care. The radiology department, which spans across the main campus and satellite locations, is equipped with nine 3T MRI scanners, one 1.5T MRI scanner, four CT scanners, and two portable CT scanners. A new 3T MRI scanner is scheduled to be added to one of the satellite locations in 2026. Additionally, the department features two MRI research scanners. To support pediatric patients who may have difficulty remaining still, the hospital employs motion-correction software for MRIs, customized by our expert physicists and physicians.
