Overview
This course will be offered virtually via Zoom. Lean Six Sigma is a combination of two proven continuous improvement methods, Lean and Six Sigma. Lean Six Sigma focuses on creating value for customers by improving efficiency, safety and quality, while reducing waste and variation.
Want to change the world but not sure how? Ever witnessed areas in your organization that could benefit from focused efforts to improve processes? The skills acquired during this course can inform and support your efforts to drive quality process improvements in your slice of the world. The goal of this introductory course is to teach the mindset and tools fundamental to the success of Lean and Six Sigma in healthcare.
- White Belt is led by real world practitioners, giving participants insight on how to apply these tools in their own job.
- The day is meant to be interactive throughout, with small group exercises, class discussions, video examples and active learning opportunities.
Class begins at 8:30am and concludes by 5:00 pm. There will be an hour for lunch mid-day and breaks throughout the day. Upon completion of this course, you are eligible to attend the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course.?

- Create a process map to graphically explain the steps of a process

- Identify 8 wastes found in healthcare
- Learn how to create a representation of the physical flow of a process through a spaghetti diagram
- Practice using a fishbone diagram for brainstorming causes of a problem
- Describe the 5S tool
- Explain the concept and application of mistake proofing
- Learn how standard work helps to reduce waste and variation
- Use a PICK matrix to select solution ideas

How do I navigate this course? There are two ways to access and navigate course content with the interactive table of contents: at the bottom of the main course page or in the sidebar on the right side of the page.
