Dr. Miriam Schizer discusses epidemiology of opioid use, neurobiology of opioids, and the appropriate use of medication to treat patients with opioid use disorder.

 

Learning Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this educational program, learners will be able to:

  1. Review the epidemiology of opioid use
  2. Review the neurobiology of opioids
  3. Discuss the appropriate use of medication for opioid use disorders
  4. Review the use of naloxone for for opioid overdoses
  5. Identify the role of parents and medical providers in the prevention and treatment of opioid addiction
