Caring for the Injured Pediatric Athlete: From Playground to Elite Sports (September 29, 2025)
This course is centered on the care of injured athletes, with a focus on how younger athletes may differ. For a range of injury presentations, whether Musculoskeletal or Brain injuries, we will discuss acute management and return to play principles. We will also consider how the principles of sport excellence interact with excellence in care. The course will be appropriate for providers of care to athletes with considerable opportunity for discussion.

This course is being offered in-person at the Harvard Club of Boston, 374 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA 02115.
A virtual option is available for those who are unable to attend in-person.

- Translational science: bringing elite-level medicine to everyday practice
- Mental health and athlete wellbeing
- The evolving role of technology, diagnostics, and data in sport

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this educational program, learners will be able to:
- Apply evidence-based principles to acute management and return-to-play decisions for musculoskeletal and brain injuries in young athletes.
- Recognize the unique anatomical, physiological, and developmental considerations in evaluating and treating injuries in pediatric and adolescent athletes.
- Incorporate musculoskeletal ultrasound and other point-of-care assessment methods to enhance diagnostic accuracy and injury management in athletic populations.
- Analyze how organizational, cultural, and global factors influence the delivery of elite athlete care and inform best practices across diverse sports settings.
