Bresnan Conference Prep

Welcome to (Virtual) Bresnan 2020!

Covid-19 has presented us all with the significant challenge of living up to the Bresnan legacy entirely online. A virtual conference introduces new requirements, processes, and timelines. To enhance the experience for virtual conference attendees, some of you will be asked to record your presentations, rather than providing them live. This will give attendees more flexibility for “attending” presentations, and reduce the duration of any one conference day. The information below outlines the workflow for preparing and recording presentations, and key dates by which activity must be completed. We appreciate the additional effort it implies, and thank you in advance for your support.

Speaker Agreement

Please read the guidelines for online continuing education, which includes a description of the conditions under which you may use copyrighted images in your presentation. We ask that you sign a speaker agreement, by which you attest to reading and agreeing to the guidelines.

1.2.3.4. Present!
As you develop your slides, minimize the use of images for which you do not have copyright, permission, creative commons or other license, or that are not in the public domain. Note: some images are not subject to copyright. See these guidelines for more details.

Omit any image that is purely decorative if permission or license is needed. Please provide source information for all images, and any information about ownership, rights, permission or licensing.
By your assigned date, email your slides to Shaye Moore, using the BCH large file transfer system, if necessary. Shaye will review your slides and follow up with you about any concerns or questions about copyrighted images. The BCH CME department is available to work with you to conform images to the copyright guidelines. This might mean researching and identifying a substitute image, revising and image, or creating a substitute image from scratch. It is important to participate in a run-through of a live Zoom conference. This will ensure that hosts, co-hosts, panelists, presenters are all familiar with the Zoom features to be used and the specific choreography of the event. A rehearsal will be scheduled closer to the Conference date.Make sure you technical setup is optimized for presenting:
strong internet connection (hardwired if possible)
quite location
good microphone
sufficient front lighting to avoid silhouette.

There are multiple options for recording your presentation. Depending on your circumstances, you may record your presentation on your own, or with CME resources. Either way, the CME group will provide guidance and support to optimize your recording. If you use Knovio to record your presentation, we will send you a link to review your recording.

If you made your recording with another tool, please upload it to this dropbox folder. The CME department will process it for viewing during the conference.

The CME will review slides and help find alternatives for copyrighted images. This review and revision process necessitates that we receive slides much earlier than a typical conference. Please submit your slides for review as soon as possible, and no later than indicated for one of the scheduled groups.
